| Q: |
I'm having trouble opening the bottle. How do I get the cap off? |
| A: |
The colored cap is an over-cap and just rests over the actual cap.
Pull off the cap by using a rocking motion. Some caps are tighter than others. |
 |
| Q: |
Why are there two caps? |
| A: |
The colored over-cap is actually a measuring cap. Since the
solution is ultra-concentrated you will not need to use as much solution as you
would if you used one of the standard solutions. |
 |
| Q: |
What is the correct mix ratio? |
| A: |
The mix ratio is 2 oz. solution per gallon of warm water. |
 |
| Q: |
The solution bottle states it has 2.5 X Concentrated Cleaning
Power. What does that mean? |
| A: |
The Second Nature brand is focused on being environmentally friendly which also
means putting fewer chemicals into the waste stream. With our advanced
ultra-concentrated formula you are able to clean an entire room with 60% less
solution which means fewer chemicals are being introduced into the waste
stream. In addition, part of being Green Seal certified means that all
ingredients used to create Second Nature brand solution are individually
biodegradable.
Also, a smaller bottle with a more concentrated solution means less plastic and
cardboard are used during production, and less fuel to transport it - all ways
to help preserve the environment!
|
 |
| Q: |
Can I use this solution in my existing cleaner? |
| A: |
Yes, Second Nature solutions are safe to use in your existing
cleaner. |
 |
| Q: |
Is this safe to use on my existing carpet? |
| A: |
Second Nature solution is not recommended for use on velvet, silk, vinyl or
leather fabrics.
For all other materials it is important that the properly diluted solution be
tested for colorfastness on a small, inconspicuous area before the first use.
After application to the small area wait until the solution is dry and check to
see if there is any color change under both natural and artificial light. If
color is affected in any way do not use. If no color change is detected then
your area is colorfast and it is safe to proceed and use Second Nature
solutions.
|
 |
| Q: |
Is this safe to use on my existing upholstery, rugs, Oriental rugs
or draperies? |
| A: |
Second Nature solution is not recommended for use on velvet, silk, vinyl or
leather fabrics.
For rugs, Oriental rugs, and upholstery, look for the manufacturer's
cleanability code tag. Second Nature solutions are safe for fabrics code "WS"
or "W". Do not use Second Nature solutions for fabrics coded "X" or "S".
For all other materials it is important that the properly diluted solution be
tested for colorfastness on a small, inconspicuous area before the first use.

|
 |
| Q: |
What is colorfastness? |
| A: |
Colorfastness is defined as "Maintaining color without fading or
running." If a carpet, rug, upholstery, drapery etc. is colorfast, you will be
able to use the Second Nature solutions without any color change. If the
solutions are used in a small, inconspicuous area, left to dry and and a color
change is seen, then the carpet, rug upholstery, drapery etc. is not colorfast
and Second Nature solutions should not be used. |
 |
| Q: |
Is it safe to use around children and pets? |
| A: |
Yes, because Second Nature solutions are non-toxic, they are safe
to use around children and pets. |
 |
| Q: |
Are there any harmful chemicals or additives in the products? |
| A: |
While the Second Nature solutions are non-toxic, biodegradable and safe to use
around children and pets, these solutions are still an eye-irritant and should
be kept out of the reach of children. Avoid eye contact.
Specifically, the Carpet & Upholstery Shampoo contains anionic surfactants,
a common ingredient in shampoos and detergents. These surfactants help remove
organic compounds from a substance making them dissolve more readily in water.
|
 |
| Q: |
Why is there a caution notice on a solution that is considered to be
evironmentally friendly? |
| A: |
Although Second Nature solutions are non-toxic, biodegradable and
evironmentally friendly, the solutions can still be irritating to the eyes. For
this reason the caution notice is still included on the solution labels. |
 |
| Q: |
Will it clean as well as my standard brand? |
| A: |
Yes, testing has been done to confirm that Second Nature solutions will clean
as well if not better than any of the standard carpet cleaning solutions. In
fact, part of the Green Seal certification process requires that this is true. |
 |
| Q: |
Do I need anything special before I use my product? |
| A: |
Follow the directions on the back of the bottle and clean as you normally
would. Make sure to vacuum or sweep thoroughly before using a deep cleaner. |
 |
| Q: |
My unit has a separate soap tank. What should I do? |
| A: |
Since Second Nature brand solution is ultra-concentrated you will need to adjust
the amount of solution that is put into the separate soap tank. Standard
solutions are mixed at a ratio of 4 or 5 ounces of solution per gallon of
water. Second Nature branded solutions are mixed at a ratio of 2 ounces of
solution per gallon of water - 2.5 times concentrated!
Fill your soap tank 40% full with Second Nature branded solution and dilute the
remaining portion of the soap tank with water. This will allow for the correct
mix of solution and water to be used during cleaning. Below is a chart of the
products available on the market today along with the recommended dosage:
